About the Event

Join teacher Courtney Purcell & Monk Ajahn Kamjahn for a full-day meditation retreat on this auspicious occasion of the half moon. We will practice a variety of traditional techniques designed to work together to cultivate, develop and strengthen mindfulness in every aspect of our daily lives. We may also be offered a Dharma talk by a Buddhist monk, and get to experience the ancient tradition of alms giving.

Guidance and basic instruction will be offered at appropriate times but please bear in mind that this is a SILENT retreat. As such, talking should only be done when absolutely necessary or during periods designated for verbal interaction. Refraining from speech can be a powerful meditation tool.

Participants are encouraged to bring some fruit or other ready-to-eat food items to ceremonially offer into the alms bowls of the monks (perhaps as many as five of them) as they come by to receive it. This ancient practice, when carried out mindfully and with a heart of giving, allows one to begin to let go of greed.

All experience levels are welcome.

Participants are welcome to come for the whole day, or for any portion of it.

Delicious Thai Lunch is provided by the Temple.
